still with the same guy, at the same airport as my previous posting (in Javanese).

one part of the conversation following the one with "polygamy" in it, he followed with the statement, "By the way, you should be careful with your partner."

"Hm, why?"

"Because he’s a German."

"So, what’s wrong with a German?  Is he more prone to polygamy than any other nationality, or what?" just trying to make conversation…gosh, I know my partner, btw.

"Come on.. have you never heard about nazi, Hitler?"

what the f**k??!!

Good Lord, please forgive them for they do not know what they are talking about.

if only he knew that it was Indonesians who were proudly wearing the nazi swastika (not the Hindhu one, mind you) on their T-shirts, or military-green jackets on the way out dining…or put up posters of Hitler in cafes thinking that it’s such a cool poster….that it was a very popular front runner of a band who wore a black t-shirt with a white nazi swastika in a video clip which appeared every single day at the end of a very popular soap opera….without having any clue what it represents for some populations…

if only he knew how my partner would start cursing under his breath everytime he sees such ignorant people proudly brandishing their jackets…

if only he knew how people have nothing to do with something horrible in the past of their nation.

does that make us feel better?  being "tolerant" Indonesians who question other people’s beliefs and principles?  who implied that people are wrong because they are different from us? don’t you think we have nothing in our own history that should have made us feel ashamed of ourselves?

yeah, right. and as they called the passengers in, i could only saved my breath for myself.  yeah right…

if only we are all a little bit wiser…. yeah, right…
