a glance of Sabang, the western-most city of Indonesia
a glance of Sabang, too much to be put in words…
but I believe the pics will tell….
besides the fact that Pulau Weh is a famous spot for snorkelling and diving, downtown Sabang is a nice place for a walk in the afternoon, in a way an idyllic place to be…
enjoy…

nice pavements with pretty tiles, but careful, don’t slip on it, cos it’s so smooth and clean…

market at nap time….oh yeah, i said NAP time…so quiet, and guess what, so CLEAN, oh wow…

if the concept of city parks is something quite foreign for most bigger cities in Indonesia, just take a look at the trees and parks in Sabang…so peaceful, and yes, park benches are available, clean ones, with old trees shadding you from the sun…

there are so many Dutch era buildings scaterred in the town, and one effort of modernising, or simply, repainting the old shops results in really an eye-catching photo object…

last but not least, Sabang insists to differ in the choice of public transport. where other cities in North Sumatra, such as Medan and Banda Aceh, know "becak motor" which are normally drawn by what so called 125cc-male-motorbikes, here most of the "becak"s are drawn by scooters. Yep, never thought that scooters could really drag such a burden, and speed, on top of that. And…colorful ones…yes..purple, metalic blue, shocking pink skuters, you name it, they got it.
a glance of Sabang…pretty, little town on the western tip of Indonesia.
Sabang, April 19 - 22, 2007
Hi....I am Die Kleinetheresia. It has nothing to do with I am being small or something...just an alternative interpretation of the origin of my christian name. I am an Indonesian girl who is trying to experience living in different places of Indonesia, enjoying the culture and experience.

a very nice posting which reflects my own obervations. Pulau Weh is a very relaxed place, quite different from the rest of Aceh. But beware of week-ends when all expats from Banda Aceh flock to the island…
